Karl Fields (aka "kilo foxtrot"), shown above
center, has been part of Whisper Field since it's
inception. He helped Joe Bonnette to build the very first hangars and to do the initial work on the runways. Karl's Challenger is shown in the background. Last time he flew it, he "busted" a front nosegear. So,
now it is out of commission, but he is working on getting it restored ...
hopefully soon.
Note: Also shown in the photo above are Jim Summers (left) and Randy Berry (right) on one of the first flights they ever made together.

Here's a photo of Karl taken at the Carolina Sport Flyers' Spring Fling at
Hollyhill, SC on May 15th, 2004.
Karl
is now flying the Spitfire shown above ... which his father previously owned. He bases it at Pelion Corporate Airport in a completely
enclosed hangar. He often flies over
and visits. Karl has since added wing tanks (see photo above).

Above,
Karl appears to be doing his "one wheel landing" routine. Not really! The
camera just happened to catch his plane a little askew on landing

Above,
Karl makes a low fly-by for the camera.

Then,
sails off into a magnificent sunset painted sky.
Note: Karl requested the song
playing in the background .... "Solitary Man" by Neil Diamond.
